- Profile Information: Depending on your role (renter or owner), we may collect your name and basic profile details.
- Property Listings (Owners): If you are a property owner, we collect property details including address, rent amount, deposit, amenities, property type, size, availability date, tenant preferences, and photographs.
- Flag Reports: If you report a listing, we collect the reason and details you provide in the flag submission.
2.2 Corporate Email Verification (Renters)
To verify that renters are genuine working professionals, we require corporate email verification. It is important to understand our privacy-first approach to this process:
- Your corporate email address is used solely for verification purposes via a one-time OTP.
- We do NOT store your corporate email address in our database.
- We only retain your company name and email domain (e.g., "Acme Corp" and "acmecorp.com") to display your verified employer to property owners.
2.3 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, search filters applied, connection requests sent or received, and interaction patterns.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, browser type, screen resolution, and unique device identifiers.
- Log Data: IP address, access timestamps, referring URLs, and error logs.
- Location Data: Approximate location based on IP address for providing location-relevant property listings.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Account Management: To create, maintain, and authenticate your account via phone number verification.
- Verification: To verify renter identity through corporate email authentication.
- Platform Operations: To facilitate property listings, search and discovery, connection requests, and direct owner-renter communication.
- Trust and Safety: To process flag reports, investigate suspected broker activity, enforce account suspensions, and maintain a broker-free environment.

4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 Between Users
- Renter to Owner: When a renter sends a connection request, the owner can see the renter's name and verified company name. No contact details are shared.
- Owner to Renter: Property listing details (address, photos, amenities, rent) are visible to all verified renters. The owner's phone number is shared only after accepting a connection request.
- Mutual Connection: Contact details are exchanged only after mutual connection acceptance. Once connected, communication occurs directly between parties outside the Platform.
4.2 With Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share information with:
- Service Providers: Third-party vendors who assist with hosting, analytics, OTP delivery, email verification, and other operational services, bound by confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government regulation, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of FirstCross, our users, or the public.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction, with prior notice.
5. Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
- Corporate Email: Not retained. Only company name and domain are stored.
- Property Listings: Active listings are retained until marked as "Rented" or deleted by the owner. Inactive listings may be archived after extended periods of inactivity.
- Flag and Moderation Records: Retained for 2 years for platform integrity and appeals purposes.
- Usage and Log Data: Retained for up to 12 months for analytics and security purposes.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:
- Encryption of sensitive data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest.
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
